I Won Meat!

I won meat! Say what?

A while ago, Stephane, aka cute and talented Zenchef of Chefs Gone Wild, had a contest to win La Cense Beef. And guess what? I actually won!!! (It was a randomized type of a thing.)

I finally decided to make something using my prize. I defrosted one of the Petite Sirloins, and simply cooked it in some vegetable oil seasoned with salt and pepper.

I learned a trick from Luke at Sur La Table: once you see pools of blood on the meat after you turned it over, it's done! Let the meat rest for about 5-10 minutes before cutting into it.

This was an amazing meal!!!! I served the meat with tomato/garbanzo beans/shallot/blue cheese/sunflower oil/lemon juice and dill salad.

  2. I am totally obsessed with grassfed beef. I think it is way better than the factory bred stuff and of course better for the environment. You're so lucky for winning some! The salad sounds great too. I did something similar with feta instead of gorgonzola. Nice meal!
