Dessert Comes First: Chocolate Ice Cream with Raspberries and Almonds

Sometimes you just have to eat dessert first. Or that's how I feel from time to time.

On Tuesday I had to test yet another recipe for Robyn Webb's upcoming vegan cookbook. But I just wanted something delicious with dairy first ;)

And so I made the following almost-no-cooking-required dessert: Chocolate Ice Cream with Raspberries and Almonds.

Ingredients
good quality chocolate ice cream (if you can find dark chocolate ice cream, even better)
toasted almond slivers (or you can do the same with other nuts)
fresh raspberries (or other berries you have on hand)

Directions
You are kidding right? :)

This was absolutely delicious!
Do you ever eat dessert first? What do you like to put on your ice cream?

  1. What a great dessert! I just used the last of my fresh raspberries - I guess I better go get some more.

  3. Dessert before dinner...nothing wrong with that. Fresh whipped cream, pecans, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, wet walnuts...all of those things (alone or in combination) will do the trick.

  5. My grandmother let us eat dessert first when we visited her. Now that I'm an adult, I've been known to eat dessert in lieu of dinner. But not that often.

As for what do I put on my ice cream? If it's homemade -- nothing.

  6. Every once in a while we skip dinner altogether and just have dessert... :) Obviously that is only for really heavy and sumptuous dessert. Love doing it, as long as it's not that often!
